This year, Milan Design Week (Fuorisalone) will treat its visitors to a wealth of events, exhibitions, and installations spread across the city, all under the theme “Materia Natura,” with nature taking center stage. The series of events is scheduled to take place between April 15th and 21st, 2024, with a focus on the circular economy, reuse, and sustainable practices and materials.
Fuorisalone will run in parallel with the International Milan Furniture Fair (Salone del Mobile.Milano), which will celebrate its 62nd edition this year. Curated by Nicola Ricciardi, the Artistic Director of miart, the event will feature collaborations with architects Andrea Cassi and Michele Versaci from EX., a multidisciplinary research and design group that integrates art, landscaping, technology, and architecture, alongside Giorgio Ferrero (MYBOSSWAS). With “Materia Natura,” built upon the themes and concepts of previous years, Fuorisalone aims to maintain thematic continuity and nurture a culture of conscious design.
The Fuorisalone Award, given for outstanding content and installations showcased during Milan Design Week, seeks to recognize both Italian and international companies and designers. Fifteen projects competing for public votes will be showcased in a dedicated section of the Fuorisalone.it platform. The selected projects will be evaluated in the categories of Interaction, Sustainability, Technology, and Communication for four Special Mentions.
