An annual October event since 2010, Venice Design Week will take place this year between October 12 and 20, exploring the theme “Out of Context.” Throughout the week, the Venice Lagoon will come alive with a rich program of exhibitions, conferences, meetings, competitions, workshops, and guided tours—all dedicated to design.

Private galleries, museums, artist studios, shops, and workshops across Venice will open their doors to visitors, creating a setting of intercultural exchange and encounter against the backdrop of this unique city where the past and present converge.

Venice Design Week Locations

Some of the most standout venues hosting this year’s events include: The iconic Baglioni Hotel Luna, nestled in the heart of Piazza San Marco; Hotel Ca’ Sagredo, a historic building boasting 42 rooms and suites with stunning views of the Grand Canal; the San Leonardo Church, founded in 1025 and fully rebuilt by Bernardino Maccaruzzi in 1794; San Servolo Island, featuring sculptures by celebrated artists like Arnaldo Pomodoro and Fabrizio Plessi; Hotel Colombina, just a stone’s throw from Piazza San Marco; and Museo di Palazzo Mocenigo, offering a fascinating glimpse into Venetian nobility’s life during the 17th and 18th centuries.

Highlights from the program include “Innovative Textiles,” showcasing cutting-edge and sustainable fabrics; “Designing the Ephemeral – Scenography as a Space of Dreams,” which explores concepts of transience and scenography; “Interior Design Influences, Contexts, and Inspirations,” delving into interior design; and “Spectacular Spaces: Balance of Decorative and Architectural Lighting” in collaboration with Women in Lighting. The program also features a guided tour centered on glass and lace, a workshop focused on the intricate layers of value textiles, and a tour of San Servolo Island.
