In our project with Hitit Seramik, we employed a photograph taken in a space on a university campus, the interior of which we were designing. Initially, we abstracted this photograph through Photoshop commands. Subsequently, we converted the resultant image into a hexagonal matrix based on the hexagonal ceramic ratios of Hitit Seramik. With this hexagonal matrix as a foundation, we executed a wall design incorporating Hitit Seramik’s products. This endeavor provided us with insights into the visual transformation of space through a matrix.

Begüm Yazgan

In 1995, she obtained her bachelor’s degree from Istanbul Technical University, majoring in Architecture, and in 1998, she completed her master’s degree at the Middle East Technical University in the Department of Architecture. She served as a research assistant at METU Department of Architecture from 1998 to 2003. She conducted doctoral research with a scholarship in 2001 at Tokyo Institute of Technology in Japan and delivered lectures. In 2006, she earned her PhD degree from METU Department of Architecture. Her doctoral dissertation, titled “Post-war systems ecology and environmentally-appropriate approaches in architecture since 1960s”, was recognized as the “Best Dissertation of the Year” at METU in 2007. Currently, she actively contributes to architectural practice at Yazgan Design Architecture, a firm she co-founded in 2003 with her husband, Dr. Architect Kerem Yazgan. Since 2022, she has been serving as a part-time lecturer in the fourth-grade studio at Çankaya University, Department of Architecture.
