Winter edition of the semi-annual Maison & Objet exhibition is held in Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Center from 18th to 22nd January. Theme of the exhibition, which will be home to new and innovative designs in seven grand halls, is “TECH EDEN”.

TECH EDEN aims to inspire the visitors by offering diverse visions of the magical future of harmony between the nature and technology in the fields of interior architecture, retail design, and hospitality industry. Approaching the future with an optimistic view, the exhibition focuses on the ideas of “well-being” and biophilia, which can co-exist with new technologies and are even developed with the aid of such technologies. The theme suggests to open up thought-provoking discussions on science, sustainability, and the imaginability of a new kind of technological paradise.

Can sustainability and protection of planet really go hand in hand with innovation and design?

In accordance with the research report issued by GroupM in 2023, ecology and technology significantly improve optimism among young generations. This major trend, which has already infiltrated into the things and spaces around us, is described with two words “TECH EDEN” by Peclers Paris Agency. "Mindful explorers", who accept biophilia -or, our deep-rooted love for living things- as a benign notion, advocate the complementary interaction among the nature, technology, and design. Although inclusive and influential virtual solutions are yet on trial, a creative and eclectic sense of design that resolutely embraces the natural world is on the way to offering a strong alternative that will satisfy today’s expectations.

Maison & Objet 2024 Winter exhibition hosts the newest designs by over 600 brands. Among these brands are Ostrea, making designs by transforming waste seashells; Giobagnara, featuring leather in decoration by blending traditional knowledge with technology; Teckell, functioning like an idea and experience laboratory that brings craft together with technology; Porus Studio, known for its contemporary and luxurious furniture; and Noma, a designer collective stepping forward with its furniture made with recycled materials.

The exhibition will also host an installation exclusively curated for the winter edition by Mathieu Lehanneur, the designer of the year of Maison & Objet 2024. Lehanneur describes the installation “Outonomy” as such: “Escaping, getting some air, breathing, living. These are some of the actions that sum up the project I will present at Maison & Objet in January 2024. Focusing on an idea of freedom and independence away from noise and crowd, ‘Outonomy’ points to somewhere else to reinvent itself. The challenge here is to conjoin our needs with the existing technologies. Far from being nostalgic or retrospective, ‘Outonomy’ aspires to answer the question ‘What I really need’.”
